Every tap, on both phones

How to set up Kairoo, in about ten minutes.

One short film, both phones: the grown-up writes the deal, both sign it, and the child’s phone joins with a six-letter code. Three minutes to watch, about ten to do. Muted is fine — every step is written on screen.

Just one phone to set up? The grown-up’s phone · The child’s phone

Both phones, start to finish · 3 min · captioned · every screen is the real app

Get both apps first

Two apps from the App Store: Kairoo Parents on your phone, Kairoo on your child’s. Reading this on a phone? Tap the button. On a computer? Point the phone’s camera at the code.

Kairoo Parents

On the grown-up’s phone. Where you write the deal, sign it and connect your child’s phone.

Kairoo, on their phone

On the child’s phone. It joins with the six-letter code from your Kairoo Parents app, then holds the deal you both signed.

If the phone is set up as a child in Apple Family Sharing, a grown-up may need to approve the install (Ask to Buy), one tap.

The steps, in writing

On the grown-up’s phone

  1. Start the deal. In a hurry? The starter deal has sensible defaults: an hour on school days, two at weekends, screens off at 8:30pm and 9:30pm, phone-free bedrooms and mealtimes.
  2. Or answer a few questions together — when screens rest, how long they get, what’s allowed, and what you promise back.
  3. Sign it. Both of you, or you first and your child on their phone. This is the moment the deal starts holding.
  4. Keep it safe. One email, a six-digit code to check it’s you, no password — so the deal comes back if you ever change phones.
  5. Connect their phone. Your screen shows a six-letter code and a QR code that opens Kairoo’s App Store page for their phone. The code is one use, fresh for fifteen minutes.

On the child’s phone

  1. Open Kairoo and type the six letters from the grown-up’s phone. That’s the whole job.
  2. Allow Screen Time. Apple shows an approval box; approve it. That’s the one required step. Then a grown-up sets a PIN, so the settings stay theirs.
  3. Choose what the daily limit counts. Whole categories are fine — games, social, entertainment. Apple keeps the app list private to this phone.
  4. Read the deal and sign your side. If something’s not fair, say so — the grown-up sees it before anything starts. Nothing’s agreed without you.

After that

A normal evening, on the child’s phone

  1. The ring shows today.
  2. Ten minutes before time’s up, a heads-up. At two minutes, a nudge — land the game.
  3. Then screens rest. Calls always work.
  4. Want more time? They ask Kairoo, not you. It answers inside the deal you both signed, and every no comes with a reason.

On the grown-up’s phone

  1. Home: what happened today, and what needs you.
  2. Right now: extra time, or end now, in one tap.
  3. Insights: the week in one look — what Kairoo handled, and what your child did on their own.
